Treatment planning & Crown Preparations
Aims
- To enable participants to expand their treatment planning skills
- Carry out anterior and posterior full and partial coverage preparations
- Learn effective gingival retraction and impression-making
Objectives
- Presentation of clinical scenarios and discussion of possible treatment plans.
- Participants will also be encouraged to bring study casts and radiographs of patients for treatment planning.
- To design and carry out full and partial coverage preparations e.g.
porcelain fused to metal, partial coverage 3/4 crowns, onlays, veneers
- To learn effective techniques for gingival retraction and impression-making Programme
Introduction to Improved Treatment Planning
- Principles of treatment planning with casts/radiographs
- Principles of tooth preparation
- Preparations for Anterior Indirect Restorations: PFM and All-ceramic crowns
- Practical session: Preparing anterior teeth
- Preparations for Posterior Indirect Restorations
- Practical session for preparation
- Lecture on gingival retraction and impression techniques
- Practical session: Impressions of preparations
- Discussion of impression techniques/ final preparations
