Treatment planning & Crown Preparations

Aims

• To enable participants to expand their treatment planning skills
• Carry out anterior and posterior full and partial coverage preparations
• Learn effective gingival retraction and impression-making

Objectives

• Presentation of clinical scenarios and discussion of possible treatment plans.
• Participants will also be encouraged to bring study casts and radiographs of patients for treatment planning.
• To design and carry out full and partial coverage preparations e.g.
  porcelain fused to metal, partial coverage 3/4 crowns, onlays, veneers
• To learn effective techniques for gingival retraction and impression-making Programme

Introduction to Improved Treatment Planning

• Principles of treatment planning with casts/radiographs
• Principles of tooth preparation
• Preparations for Anterior Indirect Restorations: PFM and All-ceramic crowns
• Practical session: Preparing anterior teeth
• Preparations for Posterior Indirect Restorations
• Practical session for preparation
• Lecture on gingival retraction and impression techniques
• Practical session: Impressions of preparations
• Discussion of impression techniques/ final preparations
