About Us

In 1987, the founder of Optident, David Butterfield, with 25 years experience in the corporate sector of the dental industry, believed there was a need in the UK for a new kind of dental supplier.

In that same year, Optident commenced trading as a Butterfield family business with only 3 staff. In 2008, the number of staff has risen to 67 and Optident has moved on from packing parcels at home to 86,000 square feet of prestigious premises located at the International Development Centre in Ilkley, Yorkshire, with state of the art distribution, conference and lecture facilities.

Now with David as Chairman, and son Tim as Managing Director, the company continues to go from strength to strength, furthering its original objective of providing the dental profession, in the UK and worldwide, with quality materials, techniques, services and educational programmes.

Proactive in forseeing the changes happening in the world of dentistry and with a hardworking, dedicated team of staff behind them, David and Tim continue to position the company ready to fulfil market demands and lead the way in providing the dental profession with innovative products and services that represent the very best of their kind.
